Samsung YP-U6 Digital Audio Player

Launched only just last month, the Samsung YP-U6 falls into the new generation of Samsung's affordable, basic audio player line up. This isn’t to say its featureless. Its predecessor, the U5 did rather well in many reviews as it was designed perfectly as a mini mp3 Player for going to the gym, which made it a perfect alternative  for the more pricey ipod shuffle

We have already seen dual screen tablets before, but it seems that Acer is going to create its own dual screen tablet. Acer’s new flagship dual screen tab has been announced and it is called Iconia, so let’s find out what this dual screen tablet has to offer.

According to the manufacturer, Acer Iconia features two 14-inch touchscreen panels that can be used in book mode or in the notebook mode in which secondary screen is used as keyboard that has dynamic keys depending on the application that is currently used. As for the hardware specification, this dual screen tablet comes with Intel Core i5 processor and a hard Drive with 320 to 750GB capacity. Besides that, Acer Iconia has Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi b/g/n, both USB 3.0 and USB 3.0 ports, and HDMI and VGI output ports. 1280×1024 webcam is included as well, and each display can produce 1266 X 768 resolution.  Netflix to arrive Android for early 2011

Netflix is said to be appearing on “select Android devices” in early 2011. Netflix said they will make Netflix across all Android’s but that will be in the future. Netflix will only be on “select” Android devices because of the security concern with them. So most of the higher end Android phones and tablets will probably have Netflix in 2011, later though all Android phones will get it. They are concerned with piracy issues which is why only “select” models will have Netflix on them. Look for Netflix on Android phones soon to come in 2011.

Samsung’s Gingerbread phone presumably launching in 2011

Samsung hasn’t officially announced but news has leaked that Samsung’s next flagship smartphone might be launching in 2011 and as you might have guess by now – it will run on Gingerbread. Android 3.0 (the so called gingerbread) will be the backbone OS for Samsung’s flagship device early next year and this could well be the base for structuring Android 3.0 platform.

The design looks to be promising with the ultra sleek profile and a 4.5-inch WVGA sAMOLED2 which we assume will enhance the current display we see in Samsung smartphones. The smartphone will be equipped with an eight megapixel camera which will be capable of recording Video's at 1080 pixels. The smartphone will also have 14.4 Mbps HSPA support and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA support. Bluetooth 3.0 will enhance the bluetooth capabilities of this smartphone while 1.2 GHz of application processor will surely pump up the speed of this super phone.

The phone will be equipped with a universal e-book reader for ebooks, newspapers and magazines and will come loaded with Google mobile services thus enhancing user experience.

 YouTube Remote app released...

In order to use this app, you just need to sign in into your YouTube Leanback on TV or PC, and use that same login to sign up on the phone. After that, you just need to select video on your phone and send it to your PC or TV with a press of a single button. As for the YouTube Remote app, it doesn’t work as well as expected because several users have reported certain issues such as crashing while running this app. Although this app has its flaws, it works well for arranging queues and for playback on multiple screens.

Although this app has some issues, it generally works well and if you want to try it out, get it from the Android Market.

WinX DVD Ripper Platinum v6.0 – improved with added features

The new version is another step closer to perfection though they still have a lot to cover.

Ripping has received a lot of bad words from people (especially production houses) as it can be used to convert videos from one format to the other without any hassles thus helping users view any movie anywhere even if the creator didn’t want this to happen. Ripping has come a long way since its year of start just like the mobile market and people are happy to wrap up complete movies in their smartphones itself thus saving money and a lot of time too.

WinX DVD Ripper Platinum v6.0 has taken a step forward to upgrade their software as per consumer’s demands and they seemed to have succeeded to an extent for sure. Also, the 1:1 DVD copy option stays with WinX DVD Ripper Platinum v6.0 thus you can backup your DVDs along with the subtitles, true video quality, and best video quality with least possible noise.

What’s New in WinX DVD Ripper Platinum v6.0?
  • Improved software user interface.
  • The WinX DVD Ripper Platinum v6.0 comes with brand new framework thus improving its performance.
  • The AVI container has been improved though original DVD AC3/DTS 6 Channels audio track has been kept as is.
  • Output WMV Video has been improved with original DVD AV3/DT 6 Channels audio track.
  • WMV encoder now fits with the requirements of Windows Media Center.
  • The speed for H.264 encoder has been pumped up and support for multi-core CPU has been improved too.
  • SSE, SSE2, SSE3 have been upgraded and optimized. This helps in dramatically improving the speed of DVD decoder, MP4, H.264, Divx, WMV, Xvid, MPEG2 encoder.
  • The DVD play window has been improved for convenient playback. Videos can now be trimmed by setting start time and end time. This helps the users to trim section of videos and now they won’t have to wait for the complete video to be ripped before they can watch the small two minute dialog for which they had performed the 2 hour rip.
  • DVD image crop function has been enhanced.
  • Support for iPhone 4, iPad and iPod 4 have been enhanced with support added for all iOS 4 devices.
  • Output MP4 video with AAC 2 Channels, AAC 4 Channels and AAC 6 Channels support has been added.
  • DVD to MPEG with original DVD AC3/DTS 6 Channels audio track conversion has been added.
  • The problem that DVD Virtual Machine doesn’t support irregular DVD structure, such as DVD with more than 99 titles, new released Disney DVD whose play duration is zero in some titles has been fixed.

How to bypass iOS 4.1 lock screen on iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4 without the passcode...

Looks like there’s been a glitch in Apple’s iOS 4.1firmware, the relatively important security flaw too. The glitch allows users to hack their way through and bypass the lock screen on theiPhone  in which you are required to enter a passcode, the result is that you won’t need to know the passcode to reach the iPhone phone app and access some degree of private data.

Simply inputting a random number in the emergency call field, pressing call, and then promptly hitting the hardware lock button will take you to the Phone app, thereby granting you access to the call history, voicemail, and address book. In addition, you can also hold down the menu button to access voice control and play some locally-stored music while you’re at it.

DIY your iPhone 4 and give it a metallic backplate

If you’re bored of all your colleagues having the same black boring iPhone 4 as you and fancy a change in style, here’s how you can kit out your iPhone 4 and give it a unique metallic backplate. All you need to do is first order a metallic backplate from the website (seems to be the only site that has the metallic backplate for iPhone 4 at the moment) then follow the simple instructions by the folks over at iFixit to disassemble your iPhone 4’s backcover for a replacement. Please be aware this may void your iPhone’s warranty and is of course not recommended by App

Use USB 3.0 without upgrading your machine

You read that pretty correctly. And I do not mean that you use some kind of magical driver which will help your USB 2.0 port shell out speed that matches with that of USB 3.0. There isn’t any such software available yet! What we discuss here is the newly launched Seagate adapter which can use your ExpressCard slot to convert it to USB 3.0.

Henceforth, you will end up using the much faster (when compared to USB 3.0) USB service without even upgrading your hardware to the new technology, USB 3.0. But, why will you want to use Seagate’s adapter when you don’t have any device that requires USB 3.0? The answer is simple; Seagate has launched its new set of hard disk drives namely GoFlex which are fast and henceforth worth buying. After all, USB 3.0 is 10 times faster than USB 2.0 and why will you want to miss out on such a furious device?
The Seagate adapter will use the existing USB 2.0 for its power using its own power connecter. Though the set up might not look as good as you expect considering the fact that it has a power cord to drag power out of your laptop’s USB 2.0 port and another cord to jack into your ExpressCard slot. But, who cares, until and unless you get 10 times faster speed for your daily operations.

Solar Cycle Station recharges your electric bike with solar power

If you care about the environment, you should probably get one of those electric bikes. They are much more eco-friendly than any car. Of course, although electric bikes work great, they still need to be recharged with electrical power, and that type of recharge will also drain nature’s resources. Luckily, solution comes from Japan  and it is called Solar Cycle Station.

Solar Cycle Station is a bike stand that allows owners to charge their electronic bikes using Solar power. In standard version, this bike stand comes with three solar modules and it can reach a maximum output of 79.8V with operating current of 7.84A. According to the developer, Kyocera, estimated power generated with the Solar Cycle Station can produce up to 1.14kWh if it is facing towards south. As for the number of bikes this station can charge, you’ll be pleased to hear that it can charge up to six bikes simultaneously.

USBCELL AA: Rechargeable USB batteries

Today we live in time where we need to preserve our environment and energy, therefore we’re always looking for a new ways to restore power and reuse it. Many devices are using rechargeable batteries, but on the other hand, many people are still using plain disposable batteries that are harmful to our environment. Since they cannot be recharged and reused they are just thrown away and buy ones are bought. That way they are spending more money and on the other hand, they are polluting the environment, but luckily something might change soon.

First rechargeable batteries have been released in 80’s and they were a huge hit back than because you could have used them more than hundred times. Over the years there have been all sorts of chargers for rechargeable batteries. The first ones were using electricity and power outlets while the latest ones are using solar power for recharging. In addition, there were all sorts of USB chargers but we have never seen USB AA rechargeable batteries, until now. USBCELL AA batteries are standard rechargeable batteries but in order to recharge them you need to remove the top of the battery and plug them into the USB port. It’s quite simple and it’s strange that nobody thought of this before. It takes about 5 hours to recharge 90% of the battery and an hour to recharge it to 50%.

Overall, USBCELL AA batteries work amazing, and I’m sure that they will replace standard disposable batteries one day.

P2 robot companion for bachelors

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, robots are the future. Over the years, we saw that robots can do almost anything, but not well as humans though. They are very skillful and useful and they can even be great companions as well. After the robotic child Aimec, here’s the latest robotic find that will keep company to bachelors.

If you’re working on your computer and you really need a beer there’s no need for you to get up for one from the fridge. If there’s no one around to fetch a beer for you, the P2 robot will. Simply use the web interface to choose your kind of beer and with a single click you’ll order your robot to fetch it for you. P2 will then go to the fridge and use its camera sensors to check if the kind of beer that you’ve requested is available. P2 will then put the beer in the beer holders and bring it to you on specified location. It’ll even open it up for you with a bottle opener.

P2 is great if you need a cold beer but it can also do all sorts of other things, it can play pool with you and it can even fold your laundry and when its battery goes low it will automatically connect itself to nearby socket for a recharge – how’s that for a humanoid?
